Songwriter View: Proof of Love
By Patty Castillo Davis

We love music.
I love that we are an event forward community with an abundance of choices.
This month Deva Cafe continues their support of local entertainment by hosting an important concert showcasing Jordan Waters’ mission of love and stewardship. On Saturday, February 10 at 6:30 pm in support of the Stanislaus Family Justice Center a familiar lineup of acoustic artists will join together to bring awareness to break the cycles of violence. There is no gate fee but donations are encouraged.

Deva Breakfast on Sundays music lineup boasts-Patty and Tim 2/4, Indyfolk 2/11, Melynda 2/18, and Marirose 2/25.
February 15, the Third Thursday Modesto Art Walk will exhibit both experiences for eyes and ears throughout all of Downtown. The ModestoView stage will underscore Domo’s favorite sweethearts, Me & You- the Duo at 11th and J St outside Tresettis’s.
On Valentine’s Day, February 14 the Barkin Dog Grill will present Tim Allen and Patty Castillo Davis for a night of new songs never heard before. Showtime 7 pm.

Dan Vallerand will be bringing his eclectic program to the Bayou Bar and Grill for an all-ages night at 6 pm.
Texas love in the form of Americana Renaissance lands at the Gallo Center for the Arts on Sunday February 11 with Singer Songwriter turned actors Lyle Lovett and Robert Earl Keen.

Don’t miss this highly popular 2017 Nash Next Finalist Mondo Mariscal. MAMA Best Singer-Songwriter Mariscal makes few appearances this way and this time it is on Friday, February 16 at the Udder Place in Turlock with Michael Beck.
Stevie Vasquez’s album release party on Friday, February 23 displays a lineup from The Who’s Who of Songwriters in the Modesto scene at the Queen Bean. The preshow is 3 pm the main event at 5 pm.

We love music. If we love it we must prove it in ways that will assure it survives and flourishes. Invest and support the Singer-Songwriter genre because though cerebral and powerful and beautiful, it lives organically in a brash, loud, laser-filled environment. Cultivate a posture that appreciates the venue that tries to give you different kinds of music, budget a tip into your evening out to give to the acoustic players who put in thousands of hours each year to put on a great performance for you, give invitations and opportunities to proven exceptional women-centric entertainment-for headlining events, opening for national artists, who don’t want a favor just an equal shot. You love music. Prove it.
