For an accidental Country Girl like me, Fall is by far my favorite season. From my property I can hear the Central Valley High School Marching Band rehearsing, the fruit is bending the tree limbs and walking down the dirt driveway in the morning is getting dewy. The Modesto Certified Farmers Market and DoMo are continuing to unveil the new harvest bounty of foods, art and music. Ushering in Autumn is the Mother of all Songwriter events, The Strawberry Music Festival on September 1-4 at Westside Park in Tuolumne County. Los Lobos, Ruthie Foster, Del McCoury Band, and Asleep at the Wheel are among the twenty acts treating you and up to 6,000 of your closest friends to unparalleled entertainment and fellowship. It is like Old Home Week for our local Songwriters as we gather and jam and partake in the inspiration of the festivities.
On Sunday, September 11 at the Knights Ferry General Store, Saloon and Grill an event sanctioned by Ryan Russell Music will be held to benefit the re-release of his CD, The Lonesome Traveler and help fund the completion of his unfinished work and community projects that encourage music, focusing on songwriting for youth.
