It’s time. Can we get a break from this heat already? I know, last month, I was singing the songs of the Summer. I’m ready for Fall. I’m all over it. I’m picturing a very nice stroll through the downtown Modesto Certified Farmer’s Market. The weather at the market in September is still warm but the mornings bring a mildness to the mission. You can look forward to the bounty of the freshest produce, a nice dahlia bouquet, maybe some pumpkins and the annual Chili Cook-Off.

Always a constant, always a surprise and always a welcoming feature of the market is the round-up of live music. The performances at the market create a warm invitation and serve as a pretty cool musical score for your stroll. Jazz, Pop, Folk, Blues and all genres in and around can be found every Thursday and Saturday market day from nine to noon. The tunes flow during the rain, wind, freezing cold or blistering heat. This is a great opportunity to support local music by leaving your appreciation in the tip jar.
This month features these performances –

9/1 Brad Brown
9/3 Patty Castillo Davis
9/8 Horatio Monroe
9/10 Chaz and Jess
9/15 Pete Grimaldi
9/17 Jamie Byous
9/22 Fred McCarty
9/24 Andrew Perez
9/29 Steve Bernd

MAMA nominations are active and the voting goes live this month. Vote for your favorite local musicians in their respective categories. My personal choice in the Unplugged/Singer-Songwriter category is an authentic composer with a great amount of experience and a truth-teller of songs, Candice Lamb. No gimmick, no hype, an outstanding artist who has worked years and years to create a unique point of view in their music and I believe this is Candice’s time.

Calling all space owners! Calling all women, BIPOC and LGBTQA+ business owners. Calling everyone who has ever dreamed of hosting live music, no matter your niche.
