Spring is marching in slowly, with winter still lingering. As March begins, everyone is ready for the warm days of spring! Ms. M finds herself outdoors more, preparing the garden for the blooms that will eventually arrive. March is excellent for shedding the doldrums and welcoming the new season. Here are a few bargains that you can enjoy outside or in.
The power of positivity has proven to help you succeed. MJC West Campus presents the next speaker in their virtual Positive People Speaker Series on March 3rd with Elida Miranda-Zaragosa. She is an alumnus of Modesto Junior College and CSU Stanislaus, who currently co-leads the MJC Communidad Network supporting Latinx students. Being a first-generation college student has given her a unique insight and a 15-year strong career that will inspire participants. Free to attend and open to all. 6pm Zoom event. This is the time of year for enjoying the almond blossoms, and the weather won’t stop them. A great way to enjoy the blossoms in the Modesto area is to take an Almond Blossom Cruise. Visit Modesto, and Wayfarer app have teamed up to allow you to drive the area from the comfort of your car and view the thousands of acres of white and pink, with directions, places to grab a bite and areas for photo ops. Music can have a positive influence and energize. The State Theatre presents the Battle of the bands on March 18th, featuring some of the area’s favorite local acts. Sing and dance the night away in a fantastic venue as opposing bands battle out for the title spot and an audience favorite. Snacks and beverages will be for sale at the event. Tickets are $20. It’s time to get ready, set and go again! The world-renowned Modesto Marathon zips back around on March 26th. This race is a historical event and takes competitors through some of our most beautiful tree-city neighborhoods and downtown area. Runners also can complete the MOMA virtual run. All participants, including virtual ones, still receive a swag bag and participation items. The race events are a lot of fun for the whole family. Come cheer or run the races.
