Library seeks authors for Community Novel Project
Local authors, both published and aspiring, have the opportunity to join in an exciting collaborative process to create Stanislaus County Library’s first community novel! Interested authors should complete an interest survey and return it to any library branch by December 14, 2013. Authors will be selected to each contribute one of 15 chapters.
In January, the group of selected authors will meet for a brainstorming session to develop an outline for the book and chapters will be assigned with deadlines for each. Participating authors must be able to complete a 2,000-3,000 word chapter in a two-week timeframe. The book will be professionally edited for continuity, style and accuracy.
The novel will be published online, in print and audio formats, one chapter per week, beginning in mid-April. Bound copies will be available for purchase upon completion of the community novel project. The Stanislaus Library Foundation, in cooperation with the Gallo Center for the Arts, will hold a culminating event on November 16, 2014, featuring Lemony Snicket author, Daniel Handler.
