It is Spring, and we have a packed schedule of geeky goodness for everyone in the family to enjoy.

CluedUp is an outdoor murder mystery event that will put you at the center of a crime scene investigation on Saturday, April 6, 2024. Join hundreds of investigators taking part in this relaunch of one of Clued Upp’s most requested themes, CSI. You’ll explore Modesto guided by their award-winning mobile app. As you hunt for clues, you’ll visit different locations around Modesto, solve cryptic puzzles, and interrogate virtual witnesses. You won’t just be racing against the clock; you’ll compete against other teams to see who has the best detective instincts. Start time between 9 am and 2 pm: 1 ticket per team of 2-6 people. For more information, go to cluedupp.com.

Tabletop gamers rejoice! Meeple Valley Board Cafe has opened at 115 Mark Randy Place, Modesto. A daily pass is $7 or you can get a monthly pass for $35, allowing you to choose from over 200 games to play until closing each day. Meeple is open Sunday through Thursday from 12 pm to 8 pm and Friday through Saturday from 8 am to 10 pm. You can rent two rooms to host parties, streaming, or other events. The Blue Room is a private room with cameras for streaming for $80, and the Yellow Room is  $50 for 4 hours. There is also a retail space with a large selection of games, and the cafe sells sandwiches, drinks, and various snacks.

Reacquaint yourself with the original Star Wars Trilogy, which is meant to be seen on the big screen. The State Theatre will be screening Star Wars: A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, and The Last Jedi from April 26 to 28. Star Wars: Episode I- The Phantom Menace will be on the big screen at an area theatre to celebrate its 25th Anniversary beginning May 3rd.

We have celebrated May the Fourth, since 2016, when the Modesto City Council was the first to make an official proclamation making it Star Wars Day. Yes, friends, this is our day, and we will celebrate and bring the action to 10th St Plaza. So bring the whole family and join the Northern California Star Wars community in celebrating May 4 in Downtown Modesto—a free, family-friendly event. We have invited the 501st, Central Valley Cosplayers, Dark Empire, the Wolves of Mandalore, the Rebel Legion, and Astromech builders to join us at this event. Horizon Point will go full Jedi performing in the Plaza. There will be vendors, artists, and an extraordinary guest, Andrew Nelson, who spent more time in the Darth Vader suit than any other actor. You won’t want to miss the lightsaber battles as the sun goes down. I will be creating a Death Star Pinata or two for the kids to enjoy.  Everyone is encouraged to cosplay as their favorite Star Wars characters. May 4th, 5-9 pm.

Get your tickets now for this year’s Modesto Symphony Orchestra, performing John Williams’ music and screening Star Wars: The Last Jedi on May 31st and June 1st at Gallo Center for the Arts. These performances are not to be missed.

While downtown for any of these unique Star Wars events, stop by Never Boring 1016 14th Street and the Mural Alley on 10th Street to get your picture in front of the Star Wars Themed murals.
