Taking the Dis Out of Disability
Having a disability doesn’t have to limit one’s ability to be independent. That’s the focus of the 3rd Annual Abilities Resource Fair and Assistive Technology Expo being held on September 25th, 2015 from 9am-2pm at the Howard Training Center Witmer Hall located at 1424 Stonum Road, Modesto.
The event will highlight community resources that people with disabilities can access to enhance their independence and quality of life. This includes showcasing micro-enterprising entrepreneurs and their products they create to help support their independence.
A variety of adaptive equipment vendors will be on hand to demonstrate various devices and assistive technology that can enhance one’s independence.
This event is free to the public and will feature free raffle prizes throughout the day. There will also be workshops on various topics like Special Needs planning and Social Security.
The event is being presented by the Disability Resource Agency for Independent Living (DRAIL) and sponsored by Howard Training Center, CareMore, Black Oak Casino, Center for Disability Access and Modesto Mobility Inc.
