Songwriter View: The Growing Season
By Patty Castillo Davis
Bloom where you are planted. An excellent friend of mine has always reminded me of this. Just because we do not reside in Los Angeles, New York or Nashville does not mean we cannot create art on an unparalleled level and find success on the map. Modesto touts itself as the birthplace of Rockabilly with the footprints of The Maddox Brothers and Rose to prove it. You need not to travel far to find supreme offerings of music in every genre at your fingertips. Do your research, make your plans and support the local scene.
Deva Cafe has Saturday Live Music Matinees from 10 am to 1 pm year round, and April gives us pure Girl Power with The Ava Grace Trio on 4/6 and 4/20 and newcomer Liz Krulder on 4/13 and 4/27. Sunday Breakfast Music will feature the Acoustic Travelers on 4/14 and Josh Davenport on 4/28.
The ModestoView outdoor Stage returns for the Third Thursday Art Walk on 4/18 located at 11th and J St. with the Patty Castillo Davis Band.

Gratitude to those who are working on turning their business spaces into performance venues and dual promoting. We need each other to create growth and beauty.
