Local high schools have been in rehearsals for their fall dramatic productions. High school thespians perform with 110% energy and enthusiasm. Check these out:
Big Valley Christian High School
Their theme this year is Sacrificing for Others, One Person Can Make a Difference. In each story the main character makes a personal sacrifice to meet the needs of others. They are very excited about presenting Disney’s Beauty and theBeast. Our talented students will bring this well-know enchanted tale to life October 13-15 with performances all three evenings at 7PM. and a 2PM Saturday matinee. Tickets: Adults: $7.50 Students $5 Big Valley Jr/Sr High School 1020 Pelandale and available at the door. Those purchasing tickets in advance will be eligible for a door prize drawing to “Be Our Guest” at a special character tea as well as other enchanting prizes. Beyer High School Drama is performing Done to Death. The play follows a team of five renowned but “washed up” mystery writers, assembled to reinvent themselves by writing a script for a new TV show. Each writer encompasses their own type of writing style but what they all have in common is their habit of conjuring cliché stories that have been “done to death.” The show will be performed in the Beyer High Little Theater.
October 27th-30th 7:30 p.m. with matinees on Sat. and Sun. at 2:00PM

Davis High School will host a murder mystery dinner October 14th and 15th
Their first full-length play will be The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) on Nov. 3-5. Audience members can expect to be participants in this unprecedented Shakespearean adventure replete with bad wigs, fake vomit, and backwards Shakespeare. This will be the FINAL SHOW in the current Davis Little Theater before the remodel that will begin in January. To experience this 90-minute whirlwind of fun, tickets may be purchased at the door or reserved by e-mailing Lindsay Bryan at Bryan.L@monet.k12.ca.us. Ticket are $5 for students and $7 for adults.
Enochs High School’s first show this school year will be a Murder Mystery Comedy called The Bold, the Young and the Murdered by Don Zolidis. Friday, Dec. 9th and Saturday, Dec. 10th at 7PM Enochs High School also has an Improv Club. Their first show will be Nov. 18th at Enochs High School.
Modesto High School Theatre will produce The Mouse That Roared opening Nov. 10th at 7:30 p.m. and continuing Nov. 17th and 18th. The Mouse That Roared is a comedy based on a book from the 1950’s. It was made into a film in the 1960’s starring Peter Sellers in various roles. The play script stays true to the novel. The play focuses on a very, very small and anachronistic European country that in order to improve their economic situation, declares war on the United States. For more information contact The Mouse That Roared plays at the MHS Auditorium on November 10, 17, and 18–all shows begin at 7:30 P.M and tickets are $5 for Students and $7 for adults.
Gregori High School theater department presents “Secrets” a student written murder mystery dinner show to be performed Oct. 27th, 28th, and 29th at 7 p.m. Students $11.00, adults $13.00 In the spring, “The Wedding Singer” musical will open March 1, 2, 3, and March 8, 9, 10 at 7 pm.
Downey High School drama department will present the drama, Flowers for Algernon by David Rogers, based on the novel by Daniel Keyes. The play will be presented October 6th and 7th at 7:30 PM and Sunday, October 9th at 2:00 PM in the Downey Auditorium at 1000 Coffee Rd in Modesto. Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 for students and seniors. Tickets can be purchased at the door prior to each performance.
In December, the department will present Barbara Robinson’s classic family comedy, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. Tickets will be $5 general admission. Performances will be December 2, 3 at 7:00 PM and 4 at 2:00 PM.
