Annual Veterans Memorial Day Ceremony to be held
(Modesto, CA) – The Modesto American Legion Post #74 and Veterans Organizations of Stanislaus County announce their annual Memorial Day ceremony on Monday, May 29 at Lakewood Memorial Park, 900 Santa Fe Avenue in Hughson, CA. The public is invited to attend the 1 p.m. ceremony.
Performing for the first time at Lakewood will be the 191st Army Band, known as the “Band of the Wild West” and singing will be the Golden Valley Chorus directed by Bruce Selnow and SSG Steve Trapp will re-enact “Table Set for One.” There will be the Presentation of Colors by the California National Guard, a flag pole ceremony by California State Honor Guard, a wreath ceremony and a white dove release.
The Avenue of Flags display and the Poppy Crosses will be on display until 3 p.m. Volunteers who perform that service are the US Navel Sea Cadets (Modesto Division), The American Legion (Post #74) and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (Post #3199).
Memorial Day is a federal holiday in America for remembering the people who died while serving in the country’s armed forces.
