Veterans Day is November 11

We remember and recognize those that have served and still serve today. We can’t forget the sacrifices that the few make for so many. It is important to remember as we face a more complicated world and we only go into battle only when necessary that there are so many ready to serve and all of their lives are valuable. Their stories and history are important to learn and their experiences can teach you a lot. So let’s make sure that we are flying our flags on November 11. Originally known as Armistice Day to commemorate the end of hostilities at the end of World War I on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, it was renamed Veterans Day in 1954

Here are some of the events that will mark Veterans Day:
NOTE: There will NOT be a Veteran’s Day Parade in Modesto this year. The organizers hope to have it back next year. There will be a Veteran’s Celebration at the Stanislaus Veteran’s Hall at 3500 Coffee Rd at Sylvan Rd. There will be a reverse parade and members of the various branches of service and elected officials will speak and commemorate from 10 am – Noon. Modesto Fire Department will serve hot dogs at noon.
