“Virginia White, She’s Painting the Town” and “Rebecca Harvey, Photography” Mistlin Gallery October 8 to November 7, 2013 Art Walk reception, October 17, 5:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Central California Art Association presents “Virginia White, She’s Painting the Town” at the Mistlin Gallery, October 8 to November 7. The show features Virginia White’s paintings covering 40 years from 1973 to 2013 and feature landmarks of Modesto and the central valley. Modesto’s newer buildings, such as the Tenth Street Place, Doubletree Hotel, Gallo Center for the Arts, and the renewed Modesto Arch are included. Virginia White is known for her images of Modesto’s past like the Covell Hotel, Strand and State theaters, and the McHenry Mansion. Her acrylic and watercolors paintings won first place awards in the “Spring Show” at Carnegie Art Center and “Expressions” in Tracy. Her web site is www.virginiawhiteartist.com
Also showing is Rebecca Harvey who traveled to Africa, Europe, Canada and Alaska with her camera. She started 30 years ago in the dark room with black and white film and now works with digital images. She lives in Coulterville and won awards in San Francisco Bay area, Sonora, and Manteca. Photos in the Mistlin Gallery include action shots of wildlife and color landscapes. Central California Art Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the visual arts, art education and providing cultural opportunities for the community.
