Modesto Fire Department to Conduct Virtual “Ride-Along” Have you ever wanted to ride in a fire engine and learn what a firefighter does? Are you curious about a career in firefighting and would like a sneak peek into the duties of a firefighter? This Friday, followers of the Modesto Fire Department’s Facebook and Twitter will be able to participate in a virtual “ride-along” event with the men and women who proudly serve the citizens of Modesto and Salida. On Friday, September 26, from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m., the Modesto Fire Department will be tweeting and posting the calls for service and other activity at one of its Fire Stations in what is being dubbed a virtual “ride-along” with the Department. This will be a unique inside view as to the activities of the Department and the types of calls the firefighters respond to. In addition to providing information on the type of calls and general location of those calls, followers will be provided with information, tips, and facts about how they can prevent fires and prepare themselves and their families in the event of an emergency. The goal is to provide awareness and education to community members who follow us on our social media sites. If you would like to join us please like us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/modestofire
