Weekend Needle Drop-52 Weeks 5 Albums

G0-Gos Talk Show

Talk Show was the last album released by the Go-Gos before they broke up in 1985. I picked this release because it was the album I saw the band tour on. They performed at the Oakwood Lake Resort in Manteca August 5th 1984 on the Prime Time Tour with Eddy and the Tide as the opening band. It was the last big show of the Summer for the 209 and the last hurrah before Senior year. The kind of moments etched into your memories for life.

Talk Show didn’t do as well as the previous only reaching #18 in the Billboard charts and not quite selling 500,000 units(a far cry from their first album Beauty and the Beat which peaked at #1 selling over 2 million copies). With only one hit single “Head Over Heels” reaching number 11 the album was a commercial disappointment. “Turn to You” peaked at #32 and the third single “Yes or No” peaked at #84.

The Go-Gos broke up shortly after the Prime Time tour performing only 2 dates without Jane Wiedlin. The band did reform and released God Bless the Go-Gos in 2001. If you are a fan you will have one last chance to see the band perform this summer. The Go-Gos have announced a Farewell Tour to take place in August.
