Wild Planet Day at MJC

Modesto Junior College Great Valley Museum to hold science festival

(Modesto, CA) – The Great Valley Museum and Modesto Junior College Science, Math and Engineering Division are hosting a family oriented science festival at the new Science Community Center on West Campus. The event “Wild Planet Day” will take place on Saturday, October 12 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission for the day is $8 per person and $6 per person for groups of 5 or more.

This fun-filled fest will feature three star shows in the Planetarium, telescope viewing, and over 20 hands-on science activities including DNA extraction and CSI fingerprinting. “Dr. Al Chemist” will dazzle all ages with intriguing experiments. Attendees are encouraged to bring their favorite “mystery rock” for identification by the MJC Geology Club. There will be squid and owl pellet dissection, live animal presentations and a petting zoo.

The event is a fundraiser for the Great Valley Museum, a non-profit foundation dedicated to providing science and natural history information to adults and children of all ages through classes, programs and exhibits. The museum serves the families of Stanislaus, San Joaquin, and surrounding counties. For more information on Wild Planet Day science festival call (209) 575-6196.
