Northern Californian Women’s Music Festival 2015
By Jennifer Allsup

The director of The Northern California Women’s Music Festival and our fearless leader, Victoria Boyington, has set quite a precedent for women in the Stanislaus County music community. Victoria started out on a small scale last year creating a festival with some local and regional acts at the Prospect Theater in Modesto. This year, Victoria’s team has jumped into national acts for the 2015 Northern California Women’s Music Festival, which will be held on Oct 23rd and 24th with many talented musical artists, comediennes and poets.

Day one starts at 7 pm at the Fat Cat Music House and Lounge and includes performances by Gillian Wegener, Virginia Madueno, Elizabeth Sousa, Gloria Magana, Rhea Butcher, and headliner Cameron Esposito. Our musical acts for the night Aeb (L.A. area), Kayla Just and Grammy nominated Calico.

Day two of the festival is an all-day event. From 10:30 am to 4:30 pm there will be artists performing in such venues as Tresetti’s World Café in the wine room, Barkin’ Dog Grill, and Fat Cat Music House and Lounge. This portion of the event is open to all ages and we look forward to seeing many family members sharing their love of music with their young ones. In fact, there will be music workshops available for youngsters to attend which will be taught by the one and only Tracy Bonham. A third workshop will be taught by Emma Back for women of all ages. The Barkin’ Dog will start the day out with artists Lindi Day, Emma Back, Iraya Cress, Matrix, Josephine Johnson, Amy Obeinski, The Fun Strummers, LoveCore, The Sensations, The Vortex Tribe, and The Rainbow Girls. Tresetti’s Wine Room will have artists Arielle, Hannah Kyle, Mattea Overstreet, Dani Poppit, Bryce Hitchcock, Shaylin Nichole, Lauren Wakefield, Sandra Dolores & Ruby Jaye, and Francesca Bavaro. The Fat Cat Music House and Lounge day performers will be Maddy Hudson, Christine Simpson, Marirose & the Gypsies, Randy Mandy Band, Lillie Lemon, Direct Divide, Dirty Cello, and The Witch and The Wicked Two.

The Main Stage inside the Fat Cat Lounge becomes a 21 & over show at 5 pm for the night portion of the festival. Performing will be Megan Slankard, Barbara Dane, Go Betty Go, Tracy Bonham, Lucy Angel, The Dollyrots, and headlining will be the talented and sexy Lita Ford.
