There is a long and rich heritage and history of Pro Wrestling in the city of Modesto.
Roy Shires ran his “Big Time Wrestling” (A circuit of the NWA) through the “Uptown Arena” on the corner of 10th and G St throughout the late 60’s and the 1970’s and in the 1980’s the WWF made special appearances at local high school gyms that featured the superstars I watched on TV especially Hulk Hogan.

In the Mid 2000’s Pro Wrestling Bushido re-lit the torch of Pro Wrestling in the fighting city of Modesto. Starting in 2006 at The Fat Cat Pro Wrestling Bushido starting booking Pro Wrestling shows that have included some of the biggest names in Pro Wrestling which has earned them spots all over Northern California including shows in Stockton and beyond including shows at The Crowslanding Fleamarket in Modesto and they have even started their own wrestling school which has produced local wrestlers Daniel Torch and Savanah Rhiley among others.

This month is huge for PWB as they are taking part in the “King of the Indies” wrestling tournament during WRESTLEMANIA weekend at The Santa Clara County Fairgrounds in San Jose CA. The King of Indies founded by the late Rowland Alexander has featured some of the biggest names in Pro Wrestling including former WWE champ Daniel Bryan and is the ultimate launching pad for up and coming talent on the Independent wrestling scene. We recently spoke with King Of Indies Competitor Jeff Cobb and asked him what it meant to him to be a part of the tournament and he said, “It’s an honor and a privilege to be included in the KOI, it’s such an elite tournament and to be considered is a great honor”.

The Crew in PWB will be back at the Fat Cat on March 8th where you can see Modesto’s own Bobby Hart take on King of Indies combatant Jeff Cobb and it is your opportunity to buy tickets to the epic tournament during Wrestlemania Weekend in San Jose. Tickets to the March 8th Fat Cat Wrestling show can be purchased at the club during daytime business hours or by visiting www.facebook.com/prowrestling.bushido for more info on Pro Wrestling Bushido!!

That’s it for me this month… We’ll be back next month with more metal!!
