There was something for everyone at the 2012 X Fest. If you wanted to see Roller Derby, dance to Rock-a-Billy, trance out with the Dancetronauts or shred with Sebastian Bach or Slaughter, raise a glass with the Moon Shine Bandits, Rastafari with Irietide, dance in some foam and rock with DAM, then X fest was your place. 20,000 of your best friends were all in downtown Modesto for a fun night of celebration. 60 bands 12 stages and a crowd that was cool.
With a bit of rain to start the evening keeping it cool, the crowds got in early and checked out the giant ModestoView Torch Calendar to see what stages they wanted to hit. Stop by for some mud wrestling by Vito’s, or a punk stage at 13th and J or a special metal stage by the Sports bar, and a full schedule of dynomite Tribute bands thanks to Ron and Doug teasing us with ACDC, Police and Bon Jovi treatments.
Food was everywhere as you could drink and dine at your fave downtown restaurant or you could sample the treats in the food court and then chill in the VooDoo lounge or in the VIP at Fuzio and get treated to Rock and Roll Tequila. There were kissing booths, tattoos, clothing, beverage booths and best of all, if you just wandered the streets, you could see a new band every 5 minutes and run into friends on every block.
X Fest has become a festival not to be missed and Chris Ricci has found the right blend of bands and fun to make it one of the “Must Do” events of the year. Can’t wait until 2013.
