XFest Excites Modesto

Since 2000, XFest has been the huge
summer party for Modesto. Our downtown
streets have been home to over
100 stages, over 600 bands and nearly
200,000 party goers. August 6, at 5:00
pm, the gates will open on the 2011
Xfest, featuring huge performances by
Panic at the Disco, Moonshine Bandits,
DAM, Y&T, Jeremiah and so many
more. 8 Stages, 50 bands and 15,000 of
your closest friends will celebrate music
and fun. Chris Ricci, (co founder of the
MAMA Awards, Fat Cat General Manager,
record label exec and promoter)
has delivered an exciting, fun and safe
event that gets bigger and more well
known every year, drawing music and
fun fans from all over Nor Cal. You
need to be there.
How to do X-fest
The bars and restaurants located inside
the X Fest area will all be open and
are a good place to hang out. You will
want to find a good spot indoors if it
is hot. Plan ahead. If you are there for
the music, make sure you map out your
stage schedule. You will want to make
time to get from one stage to another.
It is impossible to do it all, so pick your
faves early. Don’t worry about staying
hydrated, there are many ways to get
adult beverages and water and food is
sold in the food court on I street with
dozens of tasty options, as well as the
regular restaurants.
It is nearly impossible to make a recommendation
on who to see since there
are so many choices and diverse people
that go, but here are some shows you really
shouldn’t miss.
Moonshine Bandits are a local group,
with their truck stop hip hop and Shiner
Nation fans and dancers, this show will
be a highlight of the evening and watch
for some fun surprises! You need to get
over to the Toyota Hawk Stage ASAP to
see DAM, if you aren’t staying for Panic
at the Disco. There will be two new
stages this year, an all Metal stage that
will be managed by ModestoView Metal
editor Mike Vanek and a Rockabilly
Stage. Both of these will be very fun.
Cover bands are great and you can hear
some of your faves at the Fuzio stage in
10th St Place. Our MAMAView interview
this month, Matty Comer will be
on the Dos Equis/KHOP stage at 6:45
and ModestoView Urban editors, the FiestaBoyz
will be jammin’ it at 8:30. Los
Punks at Midnight will be perfect.
Key things to plan: Car pool, drink
lots of water, park a few blocks away
from X Fest and walk. Bring your camera,
your party attitude, and make sure
X fest is a fun and safe night.
