Change Your Mind
By Mary Layton
The ability to change one’s mind is a precious possibility. Miracles can happen. It’s about changing one’s attitude and course of action. Changing your mind puts expectations of success and happiness, principles, belief systems, fears and doubts into a different perspective. If a certain approach didn’t work, try another way. If you thought something will never happen, tell yourself that it can. Strive to improve your life. Even if it appears that all doors are closed, another door may yet open. The key is to keep a positive attitude; to be receptive to opportunities that pop up, and allow oneself a brand new experience. The amazing thing is that the mind can change in an instant. So does the experience of reality. The other day I cut my finger. It hurt like crazy. All I could think about was my finger. Then, looking outside the window I discovered that my car was sitting in a rising flood of water. I ran to get my keys. After I rescued my car and got back in the house I realized that I had forgotten about the pain. There was the miracle: My mind changed! My focus was no longer on my finger but on my car. In this new year, as we make our resolutions, maybe we can make them come true by simply knowing that we can change our mind.
