ModestoView Metal Gets the Super Scoop Interview
by Mike Mike Vanek, 209 Productions exclusive interview with Zetro of Exodus.
Exodus, Cursed, & SINICLE Live at Strummers in Fresno 11/4/2015 Aaron Lewis of Lewis photography It’s been way to long and I mean way to long since I’ve reviewed a show!! When I heard my favorite band from the Bay Area was coming to our area I jumped at the opportunity to get back in the game!!
I recruited my partner Aaron from Lewis Photography phone calls were made emails were sent and approved and a few days later we were on our way to Fresno. Once arrived in Fresno we were amazed by the small size of the venue and I thought to myself “This is gonna be brutal” the place was probably the smallest place I’ve seen a national band in. While waiting for doors we were pretty bored so we helped our friends Cursed (2015 MAMA Nominees) load in they’re gear and in the process of doing so we were lucky enough to watch Exodus sound check!! It was awesome!! Soon after doors opened and first up was Los Angeles natives SINICLE. Graduates of Hollywoods famed Musicians institute these guys are one of the most polished metal bands you will see live!! With a smooth sound produced by bass & drums it makes way for the incredibly wild stylings of Drew Sarogoza’s amazing guitar solo’s!! These guys definitely won over the Fresno crowd who was left screaming when they walked off stage.
Next was Merced’s CURSED!! Cursed are veterans of our scene and they make regular visits to Fresno to play national shows this being their 2nd show with Exodus. Despite being a member down due to technical problems CURSED brought the metal!! Featuring scene vet Roy Stanley on bass these guys brought a metal storm ending their set with a rad VIO LENCE cover support CURSED when they come to town!!
Finally headliners Exodus came to the stage!! This was my first time seeing Exodus since they welcomed back former vocalist Steve Zetro Sousa and I sorely missed him on the mic!! With Kragen from Heathen filling in for Gary Holt while he takes time off for Slayer they brought the old school EXODUS ATTACK!! That place erupted into a giant mosh pit of violence while the mighty Zetro held court between songs!! It was a hour and a half of Exodus greatest hits peppered with songs off the current album entitled “Blood In Blood out” that were accompanied by an endless array of stage divers and crowd surfers that worked well with a front crowd that was about three rows of people deep!! With every Exodus hit from Bonded by Blood to A Lesson in Violence the crowd would not let up at all!! Exodus proved why they are still killing it after 30 years in the game!!
This being the off night for their run with King Diamond instead of taking the night off they killed a small local crowd that waited hours to see them!! Going to this show made me proud to be a metal head!! Exodus is a working mans band!! They bring the metal for the people that pay their hard working money for good metal!! Do your self a favor and support them when they come to a town near you!!!
